Car Insurance Quotes
Liability insurance protects you fram a lawsuit when you are at fault in a car accident.
If you have no house and small or no savings you should purchase at least $25,000 per person, $50,000 per accident bodily injury coverage and a minimum of $25,000 for property damage - This is expressed as 25/50/25. The laws of some states require lower amounts, but less might not cover the total bills. California only requires $5,000 for property damage liability, most cars are worth much more than that. You are responsible for any amount over that amount.
When you purchase more liability insurance the cheaper it gets. If you increase your coverage to 50/100/50 for bodily injury and property damage the cost is only a few dollars more per month. In case of a leased car, you’ll be required to carry much higher levels like 100/300/50.
Have teen drivers, a house and investments? Buy the highest amounts available from your car insurance carrier, usually 250/500/100. Consider an umbrella liability policy on top of that if your net worth exceeds the highest available liability limits.
